"Get out of here," she said to the man from Squad 4 and he nodded and ran of, almost frozen with fear. Aya got to her feet tiredly and watched the man. He had black hair that curled and tumbled to just past his ears, he had black eyes wreathed with black circles as if he had not been sleeping well.
"Who are you?" she asked him.
"I am the one that will destroy Soul Society and then build it again from the ashes," he said.
"Okay. What's your name?"
"Hajime."
"Why do you want to destroy Soul Society?"
"So that I can build a better one."
"What's wrong with the one now?"
"There are bad things. I remember before I died. I was promised a paradise, a place where I would be safe. I ended up in the worst district of Rukongai and my life was even worse than when I was alive. I will make a Soul Society where everyone is happy and safe."
"How do you remember what happened before you died? For most people, their memories fade after a few weeks."
"Mine didn't. I always remembered what happened when I was alive and I will never forget. I will rebuild Soul Society from scratch."
"Are you sure that killing all of these people is the best way to do this. I mean they also want to keep on living."
"They are sacrifices that must be made for the future souls that come this way. The future souls will be told of them and they will honor them greatly."
"Right, whatever you say. I'm afraid that I'm going to have to stop you. The best way for me to do that is to kill you, it seems. Are you going to fight, or will you make this easy for me?" Aya asked, a grin spreading across her face as she drew Shadow Walker. Her Soul Cutter gleamed in the sunlight as she flashed forward and slashed at the man. He was fast though and was able to bring his sword up just before she cut through his throat with hers. She fainted low and kicked up high, slamming her foot into Hajime's jaw. He flew back and she jumped on his chest and then sliced down with her Soul Cutter. Again, he stopped her before she was actually able to slice him. She growled and pushed harder on her Soul Cutter but the man slipped away from her grip and jumped into the air. Aya jumped up to meet him and their swords clashed time and time again, until finally they pushed away from one another.
"You are stronger that I anticipated and it seems that I won't be able to do this without using a few tricks," Aya said. She held her Soul Cutter in front of her and said,
"Slice, Shadow Walker."
Her Soul Cutter turned black , like the shadows and Hajime narrowed his eyes. Aya stared at him and then threw her Soul Cutter down to the ground, which was now far, far below them. Then she jumped at him, going a lot more slowly than she previously had. Hajime watched her but did not move. Still moving slowly towards him, Aya waited patiently and hoped she hadn't miscalculated. Then, Hajime's chest burst open in a fountain of blood. His eyes widened in surprise and he growled,
"How?"
"My Soul Cutter's ability is to be able to attack my opponent's shadow as well as their body. Wherever Shadow Walker hits in the shadow, it becomes a real wound on the person's body. Most people have enough trouble defending their real bodies from attacks and it would get so much harder if they had to defend their shadow as well, especially since they're not used to it. I just threw Shadow Walker down to your shadow and it seems that she pierced your heart. You are dead. Sorry about your dream. It's a good one but the ends do not justify the means." Aya flashed down to where Shadow Walker was and pulled her out of Hajime's shadow and he fell to the ground. Aya caught him and gently placed him on the ground.
"I'll see what I can do about your dream," she whispered to him as he closed his eyes and died. Just as he died in her arms, all the Captains came running into the courtyard.
"Captain Commander, are you alright?" Captian Ukitake asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. This is the person who orchestrated all of this. I'm afraid I may have killed him," she said and then sat back on her hunches and sighed. "I'm glad this is over," she said.
